Promatic Down Under
For 6 weeks between June and July this summer, Promatic Engineer Owain Jones went walkabout in Australia to service machines and host Promatic Master Classes with Promatic’s Aussie Dealers Lee Berger and Bruce Burns from Outdoor Trading Company Aus./Rio Oceania. The road trip took the team to over 20 shooting clubs and grounds, dotted all over Australia, stopping at Atherton Table Land Clay Target Club, Brisbane Sporting Clays, Toowoomba Clay Target Club, Warrnambool Field and Game and Bendigo Clay Target Club to name but a few.
The largest master Class had over 30 attendees
Classes included the basic maintenance steps on the machines that include knife edge setting, arm timing, spring change procedures, roller switch adjustment, fault finding as well as the all-important safety aspects when handling the traps.
Lee Berger, who has just opened a brand-new Showroom to display Promatic machines comments ‘Owain’s visit to Australia was a wonderful opportunity to raise the profile of Promatic in Australia whilst building on our already strong relationship with our current customer base.’
He adds ‘The master classes have achieved its desired goal in raising the profile of Promatic and OTC in Australia. Promatic had a quick catch up with Glenn Rider from Brisbane Sporting Clays at the FITASC World Sporting Championships at E J Churchill in July to discuss the success of Promatic’s trip around Australia.
“Owain Jones was in Australia. I had a bit of knowledge previously. We’re all self taught on trap machines over the years, but from Owain coming over I reckon I gained another 60 percent knowledge just from him showing us properly. Particularly, with the Rabbit, Battue and Chondel machines. It was good PR for Australia to have Owain there. Now, there is no cause for complaints when people are saying these traps are breaking clays, it’s not the traps, it’s the set up that’s wrong”
